Our Vision

NexTherm Sensing: a tech start-up that quickly gained support from major partners

Spin-off from ONERA (the French Aerospace Lab), from which it obtained major support, NexTherm Sensing has benefited from the dynamics of recognized programs such as BLAST (Starburst incubator) and Poc In Labs from the University of Paris-Saclay. These important levers have enabled NexTherm Sensing to structure its offer in order to meet the needs of a wide variety of technological sectors, but also to finalize its developments.

A recognized expertise

Based on a technical expertise recognized by the aerospace ecosystem, matured and supported by ONERA, NexTherm Sensing was born from the ambition to bring technology "out of the laboratory" with advanced concepts proven in the most severe conditions, in order to propose them to the most varied sectors. After many years of development, testing and qualification, a business operation was initiated, first to protect our innovations (patent), then to gain visibility with partners in R&D, industry and academic Research centers. Many scientific and technical fields now benefit from our sensors.

NexTherm Sensing is an Engineering Company specializing in the measurement of very high heat fluxes in harsh environments, such as those encountered in rocket engine or missile gas plumes, in internal combustion engine chambers or in refractory furnaces.

Created by Research Engineers from ONERA (French National Office for Aerospace Studies and Research), NexTherm Sensing democratizes cutting-edge technologies and push them out to serve Industry, R&D Centers and public laboratories.

Nicolas Pelletier is a Doctor in Space Propulsion (ISAE Supaero 2009) and a graduate engineer in energy (ENSI Poitiers 2006). After a post-doctorate at CNRS, he joined CNES (French Space Agency) to work as a satellite propulsion engineer, which allowed him to follow flagship orbital projects such as Pléiades, Musis CSO, Athena-Fidus, or even Neosat, while maintaining a strong Research activity. In 2019, he joined ONERA to return to his favorite field:  propulsion studies and tests, involving numerous diagnostic techniques (thermal, chemical, mechanical,optical,etc.). His commitment leads him in 2020 to take over the head of the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, while wishing to promote lab innovations through Nextherm Sensing.

Photo Christophe Corato

Christophe Corato has a technical background of excellence, initiated in 2000 when he joined Étienne Lacroix firm. The six years he spent there led him to develop unique know-how in metrology applied to pyrotechnics. He joined ONERA in 2006 within the Department of Wind Tunnels to work on aerodynamic testing on aircraft models. In 2016, he left the Aeronautics area for that of Space by joining the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory. He is now evolving as a technical expert in physical measurement. Its know-how covers instrumentation, metrology, and signal conditioning and processing. He is behind many improvements of ONERA's sensors.
